Moneglia

The town of Moneglia is a small village located on the Ligurian coast, a few kilometers from Genoa. Founded probably by the Ligures, its history is linked to fishing and maritime trade since ancient times. During the Middle Ages, Moneglia became an important center for processing marble, with numerous quarries in the surrounding area.

Over the centuries, the town experienced moments of great prosperity, but also of difficulty, such as during World War II, when it was heavily bombed. However, its natural beauty and strong maritime tradition have helped to keep the Moneglia community alive, and today it is one of the main tourist destinations in Liguria. The old town of Moneglia is characterized by narrow streets, colorful houses and a twelfth-century Romanesque church, the Church of San Giorgio, which houses a precious thirteenth-century wooden crucifix. The town is also famous for its long and sandy beach, surrounded by steep cliffs, which attracts many tourists every year.

In the last decade, Moneglia has seen a significant growth in tourism, with an increasing number of visitors choosing to spend their holidays in this small town, attracted by its natural beauty, history, and cuisine. Today, Moneglia is an ideal destination for those seeking a quiet and relaxing holiday, immersed in nature and history.
